Fully glazed rear extension, refurbishment and landscaping
The “show stopper” part of this renovation is a new glazed extension / conservatory space at the rear of the lower ground floor, with a very high sloping “cathedral” style glass ceiling, supported by glass beams and a front wall (adjoining the exterior and the garden) also made of high tech glass, the middle panel of which fully slides open to permit the indoor / outdoor lifestyle that has become integral to todays lifestyle.
Extensive refurbishment of this three storey end of terrace Victorian property included a new slate roof, new waterproofing to flat roof, new cloakroom, and a full redecoration of the whole property.
Additionally “wet” underfloor heating was installed under new parquet flooring, all existing timber sash windows were replaced and the house was fully “home automated”.
New bespoke joinery included wardrobes, dressing room “island”, bar, kitchen cabinetry and coffee table.
In addition to the main refurbishment contract, Abercrombie & Court were invited to tender for and won the contract to carry out the hard landscaping of the front and rear gardens by Darren Hawkes Landscapes
To the rear, new levels were created prior to laying sawn York stone paved areas, planting 5x4m tall pleached Hornbeams and creating new beds with several tonnes of new top soil. The main patio area was created by pouring a concrete base and then a specialist coating of micro-cement was laid to match the inside space perfectly. Cedar slatted fencing, matching garden storage units, external lighting and speakers and a beautifully crafted steel frame from which to hang a stunning copper egg seat were all carried out by our own craftsmen or our specialist sub-contractors.
To the front, the steps and paving were also laid in York stone and new wrought iron railings were fabricated and installed.
